Session 1 · Song of Solomon 1–5
The bride seeks him, and he calls her lovely.
- The woman longs for the kisses of her beloved, calls herself dark and lovely, and asks where he pastures his flock so she may not wander among other shepherds.
- He likens her to a lily, she likens him to an apple tree, the winter is past, and she warns the friends not to stir up love before its time.
- By night she seeks the one her soul loves, finds him, and brings him to her mother's house, and then a royal wedding procession comes up from the wilderness.
- He praises her eyes, hair, and mouth, calls her a locked garden and a sealed fountain, and she invites the wind to blow so her beloved may come into his garden.
- She hesitates to open when he knocks, he withdraws, the watchmen strike her as she searches, and she describes him to the daughters of Jerusalem as chief among ten thousand.
Session 2 · Song of Solomon 6–8
One dove, his desire, and love strong as death.
- The daughters ask where the beloved has gone, he praises her as beautiful and awesome, and she knows she is his dove, unique among queens and concubines.
- He praises her form as she dances, desires the clusters of the vine, and she says his desire is for her and invites him out to the vineyards.
- She would set him as a seal on her heart, for love is strong as death and many waters cannot quench it, and she sends him away like a gazelle on the mountains of spices.
