Session 1 · Mark 1–5
The Son of God acts at once, and demons know His name.
- Mark opens with Jesus Christ, the Son of God, then shows Him baptized, driven into the wilderness, and calling fishermen as He casts out an unclean spirit.
- A paralytic is lowered through a roof and forgiven by the Son of Man, and Levi leaves the tax booth for a meal with sinners.
- Jesus heals a withered hand on the Sabbath, appoints the Twelve, and is charged with madness by His relatives and with Beelzebul by the scribes.
- He teaches the kingdom with seed, lamp, secret growth, and a mustard seed, then rebukes the wind and asks why His disciples are still afraid.
- Legion is driven from the tombs into the sea, and a bleeding woman and Jairus's daughter both receive life from His touch.
Session 2 · Mark 6–10
Hard hearts, broken bread, and a cross Peter will not take.
- Nazareth stumbles over the carpenter, the Twelve are sent, John is beheaded, five thousand are fed, and Jesus walks the sea while the disciples' hearts stay hard.
- Jesus says defilement comes from within, then He drives a demon from a Syrophoenician woman's daughter and opens a deaf man's ears in the Decapolis.
- After four thousand are fed He warns against the leaven of the Pharisees and of Herod, heals a blind man in stages, and rebukes Peter for refusing the cross.
- The transfigured Son is heard above Moses and Elijah, a father's torn faith receives his boy back, and the disciples argue about who is greatest.
- Jesus forbids treating wives as disposable, blesses children, tells a rich man to sell and follow, and teaches James and John that the cup is suffering before He heals Bartimaeus.
Session 3 · Mark 11–15
The heir is rejected, and a centurion sees the Son.
- Jesus enters Jerusalem, curses a fruitless fig tree, clears the temple, and refuses to answer leaders who will not judge John's baptism honestly.
- The vineyard's beloved son is killed in the parable, Caesar's coin is returned to Caesar, and a scribe who loves God and neighbor is told he is not far from the kingdom.
- On the Mount of Olives Jesus warns that the temple will fall, that false christs will arise, and that the elect must watch because no one knows the hour.
- A woman anoints Him for burial, Judas bargains, the Supper interprets His blood, Gethsemane shows His grief, and the council condemns Him while Peter denies Him.
- Pilate hands Him to the cross, darkness covers the land, the centurion confesses, and Joseph of Arimathea lays the body of Jesus in a tomb.
Session 4 · Mark 16
The crucified King is not where they laid Him.
- Women find the stone rolled away and hear that the crucified Jesus is risen, and the church's longer ending tells appearances, the commission, and the Lord's ascension as the word goes out.
